She passionately believes in harnessing the potential of people to deliver outstanding results in business to improve society.

Lucy has a reputation for transforming businesses for growth and positive reputation even in the most challenging situations. Since taking over the helm of affairs at Airtel Ghana, as the first Ghanaian woman to lead a multinational telecom company, Lucy has successfully repositioned the company into one that plays a significant role in connecting people to improve their lives. She has grown customer market share for both voice and data consistently ahead of industry average and transformed Airtel into the most loved telecom brand in the daily lives of Ghanaians. This transformation has been recognized repeatedly with the company winning over 20 major awards during her tenure.

On a personal note Lucy has been recognised by several reputable organizations for her transformational and inspirational leadership, her exceptional strategic marketing insights, selfless dedication to growing people and for championing causes that are shaping the lives of young people on the continent. Notable among these are – CIMG Marketing Woman of the year (2014), Telecom CEO of the Year (Ghana ICT and Telecoms Award 2016) and CSR CEO of the year (Ghana CSR Excellence Awards 2016). Her vast business experience has seen her work in the UK and Portugal and on the continent she has worked in West, Central and East Africa.

Lucy is a great advocate for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). She believes that now is the time for Africa to focus on creating prosperity for its people – great leadership will create and demonstrate the right visions while STEM will accelerate development. She believes that together these should create room for every African to realise their potential and live more fulfilling lives.

She is an accomplished speaker on many subjects including leadership and technology and has been on platforms such as TEDxEUSTON, Wharton Africa Business Forum, the Sanford C. Bernstein Center for Leadership and Ethics Conference at Columbia Business School and the African Development Investment Convention. She was recently featured on BBC’s Power Women series as one of the top business women driving transformational change in Africa.

Lucy selflessly serves on both international and local Boards of several establishments including the International Board for African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Petra Trust Company Ltd, Obaatan Pa Women’s Hospital, the Business Environment Enabling Programme under the UK Department of International Development (DFID), the Business Sounding Board for the Danish Embassy, the Industry Advisory Board for Ashesi University and The Exploratory – an initiative of the African Women Advocacy Project.

She is a founding member of the Executive Women Network, a non-profit organization of women in senior management and executive positions committed to inspiring, empowering and supporting women executives to succeed and become influential both locally and internationally. She is also an ambassador for the W initiative by Access Bank to inspire and promote financial inclusion for women.

Lucy started her career in automotive engineering with Ford Motor Company working her way through design engineering, manufacturing and project management functions in the UK, Germany and Portugal. She also spent some time working in investment banking at the Royal Bank of Scotland. She holds a first class degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of East London and is a chartered engineer with the Institute of Engineering and Technology, UK. She also holds an MBA from INSEAD in France. Lucy is married with three children. The family loves to travel together to explore the world.
